Hire the right people!

By Aparna Roy”Time spent on hiring is time well spent”, quoted Robert Half, a global human resource consulting firm.

Isn’t that true? When a company hires people to form a team, it cannot just randomly select anyone. A precise plan and dedicated time should be given to the hiring process because the company has to get the right people to proceed towards prosperity.

There is no doubt that the key components of a start-up are to have a great business idea and of course a foolproof strategy. But it also needs a balanced team to execute the plan as well. It’s like getting the necessary ingredients to cook a delicious meal isn't enough, a skilled cook is required too. Similarly, an idea and a plan are not enough, an industrious and talented workforce is much needed.

Who should be hired?

When you think about hiring people, the very first question that comes to your mind is; who should be hired?
There is a simple answer to this question and that is to hire the most efficient one. You should look for a person who is not only talented but at the same time knowledgeable. Thus the best solution to build a strong team is to hire the renaissance people. Such employees prove to be good decision makers, can build systems to facilitate execution and skilfully perform every work.

“Hiring the right people takes time, the right questions and a healthy dose of curiosity. What do you think is the most important factor when building your team? For us, it’s personality.” —Richard Branson, Founder of Virgin Group.

How do they work for the well-being of the company?

• A good team doesn’t wait for orders. They know what to do, so when there is a situation where an urgent decision is to be taken, weighing the pros and cons they take the call. Of course, keeping in mind the well being and benefit of the company.

• Start-ups require employees who are fast learners. The company needs to speed its progress for which it cannot rely on people who are slow or time taking. So fast learners and improvers add to the fast progress of the company.

• If a start-up is hiring a renaissance person, it saves a lot of money. How? Because the employee does fulfil most of the requirements. Instead of hiring different people to cater to different requirements. It is better to hire one who can serve most of the essentials.

• The responsibility of pushing the company forward will not solely lie on the shoulders of the founders. A dexterous team will contribute ideas to form new strategies for the further development of the company.

• Above all, an efficient team will work with utmost dedication and determination. The exact spirit every company wishes to see in its team.

Now as the importance of having a good team is avowed, make sure to devote a significant amount of time while framing a team for your company.
