They say ‘Science is fun’. And definitely several times, you might have applied & enjoyed it. However, it also has remained confined only to the boundary walls of the classroom. This is why today experiential and immersive learning has become the key factors in learning. Vinod Kumar, a post-graduate dropout from IIPM, New Delhi was quick to sense this. While working for many multinational companies across different continents, he noticed that the learning process was totally mundane, limited to paper. But when it comes to application, a person has to go through many hardships. There was a major gap in implication practical and applied knowledge. Thus, to remove the underlying problems and help one to enhance their learning skills & abilities, learning-thought process and transform their ideas into innovation, he decided to start a new age learning movement - Space Trek Education.
“We initially started with TechKnowledge Robotics with the mission to amalgamate learning with science and aid towards developing skills for future purposes. We included astronomy learning, video game designing & others into the STEM Curriculum. Soon TechKnowledge was a huge hit. Identifying that there was a dire need for content engagement & experience in the education sector, we came up with the concept of the immersive mobile planetariums. Thus, the idea marked the birth of another company, SpaceTrek,” speaks Vinod Kumar, CEO & Founder of SpaceTrek.

Immersive & Experiential Learning for All
Started in 2013 and gaining a huge momentum to expand in the global edtech market the team at SpaceTrek were clearly able to distinguish the quality requirements in the education sector.

SpaceTrek brings in tools and technology to assist in the next version of Education, which they term as Edu version - 3.0. It includes different kinds of immersive learning, i.e., activity based, experience-based, VR/AR learning, authentic workshops, teacher training programs and more. The emphasizes is on how learning happens rather then what is being learned, imbibing the essence of REGGIO EMILIA.

With its mobile planetarium concept, it enables schools to create an atmosphere like that of a science museum, but a very meagre of the cost spent in visiting a science museum.

Today, with over 800 schools as customers and more than 500000+ students as consumers, the company from Chennai has reached its tentacle to South East Asia including clients from Singapore and Malaysia.

The Future of Learning
As astronomy is gaining main stream in education, with space exploration and knowledge on other planets, Space Trek believes that the major lies in the increased level of curiosity with children to learn more about Space Science and Astronomy. “In context to learning, we believe looking at the sky gives an inspiration to all. Through our immersive domes (mobile planetariums), we will enable the kids to look into the sky, be inquisitive and make discoveries.”

Further, he adds, “From this academic year, we are setting up permanent planetarium domes inside the school or college premises to act as a beacon of scientific learning for the community.In the forthcoming years, we aspire to convert these domes into immersive classrooms, being the first-of-its-kind in the world and expand.”
